Where will team Serchem be next?

The Serchem team will be out and about at several events at home and abroad over the coming months, meeting other major players in the health sector and sharing our pioneering hygiene and decontamination expertise.

We love spreading the word about what we do and the benefits our premium quality range of industry specific products and services are bringing to so many clients. Our first destination is Dubai, a particular favourite on the Expo calendar for us, before returning home and gearing up for three events right here in the UK before the end of April. Here is a bit more information about each one:

  • What: Arab Health
  • When: January 29 – February 1
  • Where: Dubai World Trade Centre
  • Who: Alison Arnold, Amanda Davidson, Daniel Collins and Oliver Wadlow

Arab Health is defined as ‘where the world of healthcare meets’ and is celebrating its 49th year in 2024. The event this year features 110,000 professionals representing 180 countries and 3,450 exhibitors. Additional attractions include a Smart Hospital, Transformation Zone, Innov8, and an Interoperability zone. 

The Smart Hospital and Interoperability Zone is a new platform at this year’s Expo dedicated to sustainable and innovative healthcare technologies and will feature such things as AI solution providers, cybersecurity and digital health disruptors.

Arab Health is one of the most significant events to be held in the healthcare industry each year – providing the opportunity to address and discuss present and future global challenges.

It brings together influential thought leaders, those who drive policy, and healthcare professionals, to network and share their amazing talents, expertise and vision for the benefit of everyone in the industry.

DAS 2024 will be shaping the future of decontamination and sterilisation through a range of pivotal topics focussing on such things as whole-room decontamination, the significance of flawless sterile transportation, the role of a decontamination manager and the very latest in cutting-edge technology.

The day also includes a variety of workshops, 15 speakers, access to experts in the field and innovative solutions to challenges we now face in this most important area of healthcare in 2024 and beyond.

The conference also provides the opportunity for professional development by earning seven plus hours of CPD accredited points for people with an eye on their annual assessments.

  • What: CSC Annual Scientific Meeting
  • When: April 15 – 16

The Annual Scientific Meeting will be hosted just outside London in mid-April by the Central Sterilising Club – billed as the original decontamination forum since 1960 and is another vitally important event to those working in our industry.

The club boasts a multi-disciplinary membership covering medical and non-medical microbiologist infection prevention nurses, sterile service staff who together with commercial companies involved in all aspects of sterilisation, are providing an essential skill-set and expertise in the field.

This two-day meeting features debates, corporate presentations, an impressive list of speakers and delivery of the annual Kelsey Lecture which this year focuses on Disinfection and Decontamination in Healthcare Settings.

The list of lectures include Challenges of Reprocessing Robotic Instruments, Risks Associated with Decontamination, Dry Surface Biofilms and Decontamination: The Importance of Training and Education.

Decon UK 2024 is an event free to healthcare professionals hosted jointly by The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust, Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust and University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust, and is expected to attract more than 150 healthcare professionals from various fields within the decontamination sector. 

The comprehensive programme on the day will deal with cleaning, decontamination, sterilisation and infection prevention and control and is of particular interest to sterile services managers, decontamination leads, GP’s, theatre nurses, infection prevention and control and endoscopy staff.

Confirmed speakers include Dr Philip Norville and Professor Martin Kiernan and an extensive range of topics will be covered including the CLEEN Study, which looks at a trial investigating the effect of improving the cleaning of shared medical equipment on health care associated infections, fundamentals of decontamination, and the efficacy of automated room decontamination.

The Theatres and Decontamination Conference provides the opportunity to hear from industry-leading speakers on key subjects affecting theatres and decontamination science personnel.

The day provides insights into issues that are current talking points within the industry and the agenda, developed by theatre managers and decontamination leads, enables the discovery of solutions that enhance operational efficiency, ensure patient safety and raise overall performance in operating theatres and decontamination processes.

There is an opportunity to network with renowned experts and healthcare professionals who are leading the way in sterile environments and infection control. Delegates can also gain insights from NPAG Theatres and Decontamination members who have achieved success and savings through productive benchmarking.

The Institute of Healthcare Engineering and Estate Management (IHEEM) is supporting this year’s annual Endoscope Decontamination Forum where commercial partners will be present with the latest technical innovations, along with a number of thought provoking presentations.

For more than 50 years, the IDSc has supported the growth and evolution of decontamination sciences in the UK through a respected and renowned education and training programme, by monitoring and maintaining professional standards and by actively promoting continual research and development in this ever-changing field.
