Q: What is your job title?

Alison: “Commercial Director.”

Q: What does this involve?

Alison: “My role centres on business development, supporting team members, encouraging personal and developing professional growth.”

Q: What is the best thing about working at Serchem and why?

Alison: “It has to be the people. Everybody gives their all, we are a cohesive team.”

Q: Tell us an interesting fact about yourself?

Alison: “I played the clarinet for the Birmingham Orchestra up until I was 17. Also, I currently have a cardboard cutout of Uhtred of Bebbanburg from The Last Kingdom on my desk. He has been there for a few years now!”

Q: What advice would you give to your younger self?

Alison: “Not to worry about things that are out of your control. You regret the things that you don’t do rather than the things that you do.”

Q: What is your favourite food and why?

Alison: “Sunday dinner or lasagne . . . it’s too tough to decide.”

Q: Do you have any hobbies and why do you do them?

Alison: “I love reading but my dogs are my biggest hobby, going on long walks on The Chase.”

Q: What are your aspirations for the future?

Alison: “To keep breathing and enjoy life as much as possible.”

Alison: “Life’s all about perception: ‘Change your perception of things and you will change your reality’”.

Q: Where’s the most amazing place that you’ve travelled to and why?

Alison: “I like different places for different reasons. My favourite city would be Rome. I do love Cyprus because I got engaged there – that would be my soul place!”

Q: What advice would you give to the next generation of the workforce coming through Serchem?

Alison: “Enjoy your job and do your best – you’ll only get out what you put in. Also, surround yourself with the right people.”
