Where will team Serchem be in 2025?

The end of another year – how quickly the time passes!

It has been a busy and hugely successful 2024 for Serchem and we have been out and about sharing our pioneering hygiene and decontamination expertise at events at home and abroad.

Those events also provide us with the opportunity to meet up with our many friends in the sector, bring existing contacts and clients up to date with our premium quality range of industry specific products and services and establish new relationships. 

First up . . . Dubai

Our first destination in 2025 will once again be Dubai, one of our favourite events on the Expo calendar, before returning home and gearing up for several events right here in the UK. Here is a bit more information about each one:

  • What: Arab Health 2025
  • When: January 27 – January 30
  • Where: Dubai World Trade Centre

Arab Health marks its 50th anniversary in 2025 and is known as the event ‘where the world of healthcare meets’. It takes place at the impressive Dubai World Trade Centre and will welcome more than 60,000 professionals representing 180 countries, 3,800 exhibitors from more than 70 countries and 3,400 delegates.

It provides the opportunity to find new solutions through the technology that is revolutionising the industry, hear from healthcare thought leaders and experts, discover the latest trends and innovations and sharpen all-important skills at 12 planned conferences.

The nine product sectors covered at the expo are: Medical Equipment and Devices, Disposable and Consumer Goods, Orthopaedics and Physiotherapy, Imaging and Diagnostics, Healthcare and General Services, IT Systems and Solutions, Healthcare Infrastructure and Assets, Wellness and Prevention, and Healthcare Transformation.

Arab Health is one of the most significant events to be held in the healthcare industry each year – providing the opportunity to address and discuss present and future global challenges . . . and we can’t wait to be a part of it!

  • What: Decon UK 2025
  • When: March 19
  • Where: National Conference Centre, Birmingham

Decon UK 2025 is hosted jointly by the Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust, Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust and University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust – and we will have a presence there on Stand 22.

There is expected to be more that 150 healthcare professionals from various fields within the decontamination sector in attendance, providing high quality educational content to delegates through a comprehensive programme covering cleaning, decontamination, sterilisation and infection prevention and control.

The event will be of particular interest to sterile services managers, decontamination leads, GP’s, theatre nurses, those working in infection prevention and control and endoscopy staff. This conference promises to offer delegates the latest in decontamination education and expertise, with informative sessions and a range of exhibiting companies.

  • What: Central Sterilising Club Annual Scientific Meeting
  • When: April 14-15
  • Where: Crowne Plaza, Chester
  • Attending delegates: Garry, Daniel, Jeremy and Alison

The Annual Scientific Meeting is hosted by the Central Sterilising Club and defined as the original decontamination forum since 1960 – it is another eagerly anticipated event on the calendar.

The club boasts a multi-disciplinary membership covering medical and non-medical microbiologist infection prevention nurses, sterile service staff who together with commercial companies involved in all aspects of sterilisation, are providing an essential skill-set and expertise in the field.

The meeting includes subjects such as: The Kelsey Lecture: Why You Need to Report Decontamination Incidents; Decontamination Risks Associated with Theatres; The Revolution of Pre-cleaning of Endoscopes; and Sterilisation Risks Hidden from View.

Guest speakers include: Sulisti Holmes, Head of the Decontamination and Incident Reporting Investigation Centre, acting as the strategic lead for medical device safety and decontamination in NHS Scotland, and Mike Simmons, a consultant medical microbiologist.

  • What: Decontamination and Sterilisation 2025
  • When: April 29
  • Where: National Conference Centre, Birmingham

Following on from another really successful event last year, Decontamination and Sterilisation 2025 affords the opportunity to access and interact with experts in the industry, connect and reconnect with professionals and stakeholders in the field and learn about the latest innovative solutions in infection prevention technology.

Guest speakers already confirmed include John Prendergast, Senior Decontamination Engineer at NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership, Robert Warburton, Group Decontamination Lead at Manchester University, NHS FT, Sharon Fox, Head of Decontamination at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust, Helen Lake, Urology Foundation UTI Information Nurse, Mark Campbell, Head of Decontamination at Cardiff and Vale University Health Board, and Mary Garthwaite, Chair of the Urology Foundation and a former Consultant Urological Surgeon.

Presentations will include: Flexible Endoscope Decontamination, Leadership, Visibility and retention – How Do We Increase the Profile of the Decontamination Unit?, Innovation in Decontamination, Catheter Associated Infection Reduction, and Innovation in Endoscopes.

  • What: Scotland’s Medical Device Decontamination Seminar 2025
  • When: May 13
  • Where: Golden Jubilee Conference Hotel, Glasgow

The seminar provides for shared learning and discussion on various topics such as new guidance, research outcomes, trial, standard and regulations associated with decontamination of surgical instruments, endoscopes, and primary care instruments.

Attendees typically include those working as sterile service managers, supervisors, quality managers and technicians in areas such as endoscope decontamination units, dental decontamination units, microbiology, infection control, laboratories and the manufacture and supply of decontamination technologies.

The day will give visitors the chance to learn about new cross-cutting technology and innovation presented by the speakers and exhibitors. There will be a host of dynamic speakers and exhibitors from the UK and beyond, who will provide expert insight into the field of decontamination of medical devices.

  • What: Theatres and Decontamination Conference
  • When: May 20
  • Where: CBS Arena Coventry
  • Attending delegates: Garry and Dominic

This conference provides the opportunity to hear from industry-leading speakers on key subjects affecting theatres and decontamination science personnel, providing valuable insights into issues that are talking points within the industry.

The agenda, developed by theatre managers and decontamination leads, enables the discovery of solutions that enhance operational efficiency, ensure patient safety and raise overall performance in operating theatres and decontamination processes.

There will be an opportunity to network with renowned experts and healthcare professionals who are leading the way in sterile environments and infection control, and delegates can also hear the thoughts of NPAG Theatres and Decontamination members who have achieved success and savings through productive benchmarking.
