Meet Richard – Production Supervisor
Posted 25/05/2026
Q: What is your job title?
Richard: “Production Supervisor.”
Q: What does your job involve at Serchem?
Richard: “My day-to-day activity involves the planning and co-ordinating of operations across all three sites, ensuring targets are met and quality standards never dip. I try to lead by example, so you will always find me in the thick of things with the team.”
Q: What is the best thing about working at Serchem and why?
Richard: “While I have only been at serchem for four months, I can honestly say the family feel of the company strikes you first – like a bear hug that won’t let go! I’ve felt a part of the family from the first moment. So that is important along with the trust they have shown in me already.”
Q: Tell us an interesting fact about something in your life?
Richard: “I decided 11 years ago to change the way I looked as I had ballooned to 20 plus stone in weight. I had just had a son and knew I needed a change for all of us, so I started intermittent fasting and calisthenics and now I sit comfortably at 11 stone and am feeling great.”
Q: What advice would you give to your younger self?
Richard: “Time is the only currency truly worth anything, spend it wisely. You never know how much you or your family and friends get in this life. So be present in every moment.”
Q: What is your favourite food and why?
Richard: “As already stated, I was a bigger man, and I loved far too many foods. But I would have to say a fillet steak rare/blue with green beans, skin on triple cooked chips, with a whiskey cream sauce and button mushrooms would be right up there.”
Q: Do you have any hobbies and why do you do them?
Richard: “I love to run and work out, which might not seem like a hobby to most, but when I run or work out I can destress and escape from anything and everything. A good playlist always helps.”
Q: What are your aspirations for the future?
Richard: “My aspirations have always been to be the best man I can be. Whether that is to excel and progress my career, be present as a husband, or be a great example to my sons.”
Q: What is your favourite quote?
Richard: “I believe it was Clare Pooley who wrote: ‘In a world where you can be anything, be kind’. I believe it to be such a simple thing, yet we could all do with being reminded now and again.”
Q: Where’s the most amazing place you’ve travelled to and why?
Richard: “Dalyan in Turkey. It is a beautiful little river town with beautiful ruins etched into the mountain sides. The people are amazing and the Turkish breakfast is just chef’s kiss. It was the first holiday abroad we went on as a whole family and now we just keep going back.”
Q: What advice would you give to the next generation of the workforce which could come through Serchem?
Richard: “Understand that no matter what you see yourself or your role as at Serchem, we are all cogs working towards the same goal, to make sure this company keeps growing and flourishes. Take pride in any task you do.”
Great words Richard!
